New Beginnings

Greetings in this Season of Celebration!

I've just spent 4 days pondering my pancreas; what it is, where it is, how it works, and what attention will support it.

Yup, I woke up diabetic on the 23rd.  I surprise myself that I'm not surprised, but then we all know more within than we walk around thinking about day to day, don't we?  And Wisdom tells me it's "marginal and manageable."  So I feel fortunate for lots of reasons.

It's kind of exciting to explore a part of the body for the first time.  I'm also proceeding by using the process Wisdom shared with me many years ago when my thyroid failed:

First, thank the part of the body seeking attention/having symptoms.  Hold the area if it's comfortable, otherwise visualize it and speak aloud to it with gratitude for its long and reliable service.  I held the area of my thyroid then.  Now I visualize what I found online.

Second, again speaking aloud, breathe deeply and affirm a willingness to hear/receive the Wisdom it holds.  All symptoms have Wisdom in them if we are willing to ask, both for what we can do to assist and to "recall" the reason for the symptoms.  This will come intuitively, through dreams or a waking insight as diabetes did for me, or any number of other means that reach your Knowing.

Third, breathing deeply and speaking aloud,  affirm its capacity to recall its perfect/original function and our willingness to do all we can to support it.

Holding to all of these, and trusting Wisdom over that of well-intentioned doctors, my thyroid regrew and is fully functioning.  I will not be stubborn over diabetes, but my system now deserves as much attention as I gave my thyroid, so I have launched a diet and exercise program as a new style of living.  Whatever else I might be inspired to do medically, my system will be glad for a more consistent plan.

These past few days I've surely been challenged.  It's not fun to start over at 75, but it is a challenge I feel equal to exploring and mastering.  I'm listening to my body more attentively and paying attention to what it tells me.  It's quite a trip!  I'm sure the result will be an improved quality of life.
And that's a gift.

Wishing each and every one of us the Wisdom to care for ourselves and to reap the benefits in our new year and for all time.

Namaste'
