Another day, another rule - OR NOT

Greetings!

Another day of quiet contemplation, and the first message reminds me that "rules create self-consciousness."  A deep subject.

What are we without rules?  How do we function as a human being without structure?  Won't our society fall apart without its guidelines?

We have big rules: commandments.  We have small rules: wash clothes on Monday, pay the bills, be respectful of our neighbors, brush our teeth, etc., etc.  In contemplating the rules in my life, I wrote the following:

"Be aware of the rules you have created in the belief you would be more secure using them as a structure.
If your rules are created by you, you can deconstruct them.
And they are, indeed, created by you, as are all things.
This moment, this breath, holds no rules.  Ease. Peace.
Without rules, tension evaporates.
Without tension in this moment,
Wisdom flows, and from it Right Action.
The rules you created on the premise of security no longer serve you."

I realize that I've been practicing living outside of the rules most of my life, yet so many rules emanate from me, so many rules live within my molecular structure, that even as I breathe I am influenced by them.  As they have served me, I am grateful.  As they no longer serve me, I intend to deconstruct them.

Living without rules, then, does not mean imposing my beliefs on anyone else.  Wherever we are best served, let us live there.  Going within to eke out the residue that is governed by rules means finding what does serve me in any moment.  Achieving a flow of Wisdom that naturally provides impetus toward right action is my goal.  Breathing brings me there, and so I practice.

As always, writing clarifies my practice, so I thank you for your part.  Such a gift.
